1 Even though the fast starts at 3:40am, if you wake up before 3:40am, but didn't stipulate before you went to sleep that you don't accept the fast, you have accepted the fast and cannot eat. However, before you went to bed, you stipulated that you may eat something, if you wake up before 3:40am, you may eat.
The same goes for drinking, but if you wake up before 3:30am and are thirsty, you main drink water before going back to bed.
