Experience Antisemitism in Town?
The HPPD wants to hear about it — Right away.
If you've had an unsettling experience with someone in Highland Park, and you suspect that it may be an antisemitic act, the Highland Park Police Department want you to tell them about it. And they ask that you contact them immediately.
Don't worry whether or not the incident is actually a crime. Don't worry about bothering the police, about something that could be a small thing. They want to know about it, ASAP.
With the recent uptick in antisemitic incidents in the US and in our region, HP Police Chief Rick Abrams reminded residents at the last Mayor and Borough Council meeting that timely reporting is essential to investigating bias incidents. And seemingly small things like a bigoted remark from someone driving by a shul in a car, can lead to bigger things.
If the incident occurs on Shabbat or a holiday, please ask a neighbor to contact the Highland Park Police Department right away. Do not wait until after the Shabbat or holiday ends! The more time that passes, the harder it gets for the Highland Park Police to properly investigate a complaint.
