Pat Yisrael in Vaad Certified Establishments as is Relevant to Aseres Y’mei Ha'Teshuvah

September 10, 2021

Many individuals are stringent during the Aseres Y’mei HaTeshuvah to eat only Pas Yisroel, as recommended by the Shulchan Oruch (O.C. 603:1). The following is a summary of the status of items in the stores that are under our Vaad’s supervision, so that customers can make an informed choice:

  1. Bridge – All bread items and desserts are Pas Yisroel.

  2. China Lee – Hot dog and hamburger buns, Moo-Shu wraps (pancakes), and fortune cookies are not Pas Yisroel. Spring rolls are acceptable.

  3. Dairy Deluxe – The regular ice cream cones and cookies (whole and crushed) are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones and waffle cones are acceptable

  4. Dunkin’ Donuts – The bagels, croissants, waffles, muffins, tortillas, sourdough bread, cookies and cakes are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones, waffle cones and doughnuts are acceptable.

  5. From Sweets to Nuts – Chocolates containing grain are Pas Yisroel.

  6. Giddy’s – The buns, pitas and all items baked in the store, including pizza, rolls and cookies are Pas Yisroel. Whole wheat wraps and grilled cheese are not Pas Yisroel. Items made with bread crumbs (e.g., onion rings, breaded eggplant etc.) are acceptable.

  7. Glatt 27 –All bread items from the deli counter are Pas Yisroel and well as many packaged breads and cakes in the store. However, there are a few packaged breads and cakes that are not Pas Yisroel. The general rule is that factory packaged items that are Pas Yisroel will be labeled as such.

  8. Jerusalem Pizza – All items baked in the store, items made with bread crumbs, croutons and the regular pita bread are Pas Yisroel. Buns, subs and whole wheat pitas are not Pas Yisroel.

  9. Mordy’s Bakery – All bread items, bagels and cakes in the entire store (both bakery and café) are Pas Yisroel.

  10. Park Place – The pitas, laffas, buns, rolls, pretzel chicken, hush puppies and items made with bread crumbs are Pas Yisroel. Wraps are not Pas Yisroel.

  11. Rita’s Ices – The regular ice cream cones and cookies (whole and crushed) are not Pas Yisroel. Sugar cones and waffle cones are acceptable.

  12. Sushiana – The tortillas and sandwich cookie tempura and are not Pas Yisroel. Other desserts, buns and subs are Pas Yisroel. Spring rolls, eggrolls and items made with bread crumbs are acceptable.
