It is with great pleasure that Arielle J. Fagan and I would like to announce the zeroth birthday of our Kalanit Tikvah Kolb!
Kalanit is named after Ari’s aunt, Bluma, who passed away two years ago. Her fiery and undaunted spirit inspired us to pick an alternate flower: the Kalanit, a bright red flower that grows in the Negev desert. This flower thrives despite its harsh unwelcoming environment. It is also the official flower of Israel.
Tikvah means hope. With current events as they are, we need two things: faith (Emunah) and hope (Tikvah). My sister recently had a baby girl whose middle name is Emunah. The only thing missing was Tikvah, or hope.
Together, Kalanit Tikvah represents a hope despite adversity. May our little Kalanit Tikvah be an embodiment of triumph and hope in the face of our current plights!
Your Youth Directors,
Marc Kolb and Arielle Fagan
