The American Jewish Experience Lecture Series, presented by the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey, continues for its twenty-first consecutive year with a presentation by Mr. Israel Maya, entitled Jews of Cuba and The Exodus.

A member of Congregation Etz Ahaim, Mr. Maya will be speaking about Jewish life in Cuba pre-revolution, with pictures and stories about his family, and other Jews, leaving Cuba.The lecture will be held on Tuesday, April 10, at 10:00 a.m. at Jewish Family Services, 52 Concordia Shopping Center, Monroe Township. 

Israel was born August 28, 1954 in Trinidad, Cuba. He immigrated to Israel with his parents and sister in May of 1961. He came to the US from Israel in July 1962 with his mother and sister where he earned a bachelor's degree from Brooklyn College.Mr. Maya served as the president of the Sephardic Jewish Center of Canarsie for 19 years. He recently retired after 36 years in the Securities and Commodities industry and is currently living in Morganville, NJ. He is married and has two daughters and three grandchildren.
