Despite living in scores of different countries and speaking a multitude of languages, what unites all Jews as a people is the Torah. In the same way, Jerusalem has united all Jews as their heart, their soul and their home, so in honor of the 50th anniversary of its 1967 reunification, Jews worldwide can celebrate by buying a letter of a Global Unity Torah, not with money, but rather with an act of kindness/chesed —a deed that will positively impact the lives of others.
The Afikim Foundation in cooperation with the Israel Ministry of Diaspora Affairs has commissioned the writing of this unique and historic Torah and invites Jews across the globe to ‘acquire’ its 304,805 letters, share via social media, and reveal hundreds of thousands of ways that goodness can elevate lives and give honor to Jerusalem.
Congregation has reserved a block of 200 letters for members of the congregation. Select your letter, and make a pledge to do an act of kindness/chesed for this letter. Fulfill your act, and mark your act as complete. That's it.
An official Certificate of Completion will be generated for each user, and following the Torah’s dedication, a permanent digital file of all registrants and Acts of Kindness will be kept with the Unity Torah.
The Torah will be dedicated in a special ceremony on Yom Yerushalayim, May 24, 2017, and 3 winners will be selected to receive round-trip tickets to attend the ceremony in Jerusalem.
You can also fulfill your pledge by making a donation to Congregation Etz Ahaim below. Donate to Congregation Etz Ahaim and then select your letter and mark your pledge as complete.
